Stephen Lewis is 34 years old and was born and grew up in Treherbert, in the Rhondda Valley, South Wales. With no formal photographic qualifications  he joined the South Wales Evening Post in Swansea as a senior photographer in 1998 and then went on to work for the Bristol Evening Post from 2001 until March 2007. Throughout his career Stephen has gained most pleasure from photographing the hidden and sometimes ignored areas of modern British society using the camera to gain access to some of those areas which held the most fascination for him. One such area was the South Bristol Crematorium, for which he was generously given unlimited access to in 2006, enabling him to explore pictorially the process of cremation culminating in these final sets of images produced for the Documentary Photography MA.
